Trump Mistook WHCD Shots for Dropped Tray

President Donald Trump has commended the Secret Service and law enforcement for their rapid response after a shooting incident unfolded at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel on Saturday evening. The event, attended by senior officials, was thrown into chaos when a suspect breached a security checkpoint.

Incident Overview

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from California, was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives. He discharged shots, injuring a Secret Service agent. The agent sustained a close-range gunshot wound, but their bulletproof vest successfully stopped the projectile. President Trump later confirmed the agent was in “great shape” and “good spirits”.

Trump’s Initial Reaction

President Trump, attending the annual event for the first time since his 2016 election, initially believed the sound of gunfire was a dropped tray. He was quickly removed from the venue and subsequently praised the swift and courageous response of the Secret Service and law enforcement.
