Tom Hardy has reportedly been fired from the Paramount Plus series MobLand following clashes with producers during filming of the second season. The 48-year-old actor plays fixer Harry Da Souza in the Guy Ritchie-directed crime drama, which first aired in March.
According to the Puck newsletter, Hardy was not picked up for a third season after conflicts with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser. Issues included lateness, constant script notes, attempted dialogue changes, and displeasure that the show was becoming an ensemble piece featuring Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
A source claimed Butterworth threatened to quit, leading Paramount to let Hardy go. Hardy's contract contained a mutual option for season three, meaning he could have left voluntarily. Representatives for Hardy and Paramount declined to comment.
MobLand follows the Harrigan crime family in London's underworld. The second series is expected later this year. Hardy and Ritchie had not worked together for 17 years before the show; Hardy previously expressed hope for more seasons.
