Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho boasts an impressive record in cup finals, having won 11 of the 13 he has contested as a manager. His side faces Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, with a Champions League spot at stake.
Mourinho’s first final victory came with Porto in the 2003 UEFA Cup, where they beat Celtic 3-2 after extra time thanks to a Derlei strike. He followed that with the Taca de Portugal later that year, again with Derlei scoring the only goal against Leiria.
His first final loss came in 2004 when Porto lost 2-1 to Benfica in the Taca de Portugal. However, Mourinho quickly bounced back by winning the Champions League that same year, sweeping aside Monaco 3-0 in Gelsenkirchen.
After moving to Chelsea, Mourinho won the League Cup in 2005, beating Liverpool 3-2, and again in 2007 with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal. He also claimed the FA Cup in 2007, defeating Manchester United 1-0 after extra time.
At Inter Milan, Mourinho won the Coppa Italia in 2010 with a 1-0 win over Roma, adding to his collection of silverware. His overall record in finals gives United fans reason for confidence ahead of the Ajax showdown.
