Scarlett Moffatt has spoken out about the intense row between David Haye and Adam Thomas during their time on I'm A Celebrity: South Africa, revealing that she warned the former boxer he had gone too far with his comments.
The Gogglebox star appeared on Good Morning Britain ahead of the live final, reflecting on the jungle experience. She said: 'I think we're all trauma-bonded. I genuinely got on with everyone in there. I was quite vocal when I thought [David Haye] was taking it too far and said: Stop now David you're taking it too far. I don't think he meant anything by what he said, but his delivery... It was shocking.'
David, 45, sparked controversy after targeting Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, 37, when Adam ruled himself out of the Termite Terror trial due to feeling unwell. Scarlett noted that since the show, Adam and David have spoken and 'everything's good I think, but it was so long ago.'
Scarlett's Baby Announcement
On Monday, Scarlett delighted fans by announcing she and partner Scott Dobinson are expecting their second child. The couple, who already have son Jude, revealed the happy news on GMB. Scarlett, who has been open about her struggles to conceive, said: 'I'm so grateful, I never thought it would happen for us again. It's so moving watching the show and not knowing we would be in this position.... I felt so lonely during that time so if one person watches that and feels less lonely then I'm glad I opened up.'
She also praised fellow campmate Gemma Collins, saying: 'I love Gemma, she had her redemption in there.... She's amazing, she's so funny but not intentionally... I still chat on the WhatsApp group. I don't know if I'm oblivious because I've got a toddler and I'm pregnant, but I still chat in it. I don't read all the comments, because sometimes there's 30 and I'm like Oh David has sent another video of himself and move on.'
Adam's Therapy and David's Apology
Despite the cast WhatsApp group remaining active, Adam admitted he sought therapy after his jungle experience, which was filmed months ago. He wanted to understand why he hadn't stood up for himself at the time. In a furious rant, David had said: 'Probably getting £20,000 £25,000 per day for being in that jungle - how is that hard? If a few comments breaks him, how soft is he?' However, he later backed Adam to win the show.
In excerpts of a wider interview posted by The Sun, David said Adam 'didn't need therapy' but 'needed push-ups'. When it was suggested that one person's banter is another's bullying, David insisted he had 'positive feedback'. He said: 'I've had a lot of positive feedback from how I was, and I've had a whole lot of negative feedback.'
David also claimed he 'didn't know' about Adam's health condition but said he 'couldn't care less'. He added: 'If you go to the doctor and say, I don't feel well because of this, that, the other, they'll prescribe you something, give you some pills, and now you've got this thing to hold on to ... Adam was jumping around, dancing. I think whatever the trial was, he didn't like the sound of it, so he's lying in bed, so I gave him some s*** about that.'
Adam, who was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition in 2023, shared his experience in a lengthy Instagram post, stating he was 'broken' by David's behaviour at points. On his podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros, he told his siblings: 'There's moments in there where I just have a bit of a tough time in there with one of the campmates. I know for a fact, I'm not the same person as I was when I went into the jungle, to when I came out. It's changed me and that's no over-exaggeration. It's changed me. I'm in therapy now because of it. It's f***ed with me mentally because I just thought, How is this happening? I'm a 37-year-old man. I'm like, How am I letting some other person do this to me in here?'
He added: 'I think, in a different environment, on the outside if this happened to you, you'd go, Oh alright, he doesn't like me, I'm going to leave the situation, but because you're in an environment like that, there's nowhere to hide. You just have to grin and bear it.'
Shedding light on their current relationship, Adam shared that David had apologised. He insisted: 'The guy has got a heart of gold. He has, deep down. I know he gives off this bravado but deep down, I know he's a good guy. He really opened up to me, explained why he is the way he is.'
