A Reform UK local elections campaigner and branch treasurer has been exposed for posting praise of Adolf Hitler and denying the Holocaust. Aaron Taylor, 33, shared a tribute to the Nazi dictator, wrote 'heil Hitler' online, and claimed the Holocaust was not real. The posts were uncovered by anti-racism group HOPE Not Hate.
Taylor, who runs a tanning salon in Jaywick, Essex, was visited by Nigel Farage in January and has been pictured with Reform's Robert Jenrick. In now-deleted tweets from October, he wrote: 'The greatest deception of all time is that the nazis we’re [sic] evil and the holocaust was real… it would seem.' He also posted an image of Hitler with the message: 'I gave it my all. Now its [sic] time, for you to give it your all.'
Confronted by the Mirror at his salon, Taylor apologised, saying: 'I genuinely apologise. I got pulled up on it. I don’t remember posting these things… it’s likely I’ve had a beer, said stupid things.' He confirmed he had been removed from the party, stating: 'I’ve been removed.'
HOPE Not Hate's director of research Joe Mulhall said: 'We have become used to finding extreme and unacceptable Reform activists. But to see such open support for Hitler and brazen Holocaust denial from a Reform campaigner is still shocking. The party has no option but to expel people like Taylor but the question remains why someone so extreme feels that Reform is the party for them?'
Taylor, who calls Farage 'the big boss,' had been an avid campaigner and served as treasurer for the Harwich and north Essex branch. His social media profile previously described him as a 'proud' member and volunteer for Reform.
