Princess Eugenie has been spotted at a wedding in Sicily, marking her first public appearance in months. The royal attended the nuptials of hotel tycoon Sir Rocco Forte's son, Charles, and handbag designer Georgie Wright at the Cathedral of Montreale on Saturday.
The daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was pictured at the Villa Igiea hotel in Palermo, Italy, appearing in the background of photographs shared by socialite Jazzy de Lisser. The images were captioned: 'That's Amore. Most beautiful weekend celebrating The Poodles.' Eugenie could be seen speaking with guests while wearing a black gown.
Eugenie has maintained a low profile since shocking revelations about her parents emerged when the Epstein files were released in January. Her last public sighting before the wedding was at a birthday dinner with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, at the River Cafe in west London. She was last seen with the Royal Family at their Christmas Day service at Sandringham and did not attend the Easter ceremony.
Her latest appearance comes just two weeks after her mother, Sarah Ferguson, broke cover in Austria. The disgraced former royal, 66, is urgently seeking refuge with friends after her luxury apartment at the Mayrlife wellness spa in Altaussee was compromised when photos of her nearby were published.
It is not known if Eugenie was accompanied by her children or husband at the 350-person wedding, which counted Lady Lola Bute and Tish Weinstock among the guests. Eugenie has remained close friends with the Forte family for years and attended Irene Forte's wedding to Felix Winckler in Italy in 2021.
Despite a disastrous few months for the family, culminating with the arrest of her father Andrew in February, Eugenie and her sister Beatrice are believed to have been invited to Royal Ascot by King Charles. The sisters are in line for an appearance in the official carriage procession and Royal Enclosure at the racing festival this June. Charles is said to be still fond of his nieces despite their father's downfall and will permit them to attend royal events in future.
It is believed that neither Beatrice nor Eugenie has visited Andrew during his exile in Sandringham, where he has made do with a smaller residence at Marsh Farm. Meanwhile, Eugenie's mother is searching for a new bolthole and a return to the low profile she has kept for several months. Sources say Ferguson barely left her chalet at the Austrian clinic, ordering all meals via room service and maintaining minimal contact with the outside world.
Friends describe Ferguson as tired but not broken, with a source stating, 'She just wants a door that doesn't open for strangers.' The King's household has made clear that the duchess is no longer part of official royal life, and she is not invited to Sandringham or Balmoral.
