Pilot Awkwardly Caught in Flirty ATC Exchange

A pilot inadvertently found himself in the middle of a flirtatious over-the-airwaves exchange between another pilot and his air traffic controller spouse. The uncomfortable incident unfolded as a pilot radioed the Camarillo air traffic control tower in California at the precise moment another pilot was speaking to his wife.

'Back to work, love you,' the first pilot was heard saying to his wife. The other pilot then interjected, requesting guidance on a Tower En Route Control (TEC) route: 'Hey Camarillo tower, we love you too. So we'd like to get a TEC route, if possible, to Santa Monica.'

Embarrassed, the air traffic controller explained, 'That's my husband flying over.' The pilot responded, 'All right, that just got way awkward.' The controller replied, 'That's okay, he does that sometimes.'

The exchange took another turn as her husband chimed back in on the frequency, saying, 'I'm still here. You flirting with my wife?' The embarrassed pilot replied, 'No comment.' The wife then clarified that her husband wasn't actually angry, but the pilot still said he would give himself 'a little time out.'

The exchange went viral online, as viewers chuckled and joked about the incident. 'Your wife? You mean our wife?' one user wrote on Instagram. 'When your real husband and your work husband find out about each other,' another said. 'Too cute!!!' a third added. 'How cute was that "bye" though,' another commented. 'We love you too” was such bro vibes, and how he put himself on timeout,' one user laughed. On Facebook, another joked: 'Love is in the air?'

It remains unclear what airline or flights the pilots were flying. The Daily Mail reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration for comment.
