Clueless TV Sequel Confirmed with Alicia Silverstone Returning as Cher

Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her iconic role as Cher Horowitz in a new television sequel to the 1995 film 'Clueless'. The series, which is in development for the streaming service Peacock, will see Silverstone also serve as an executive producer.

The original film's writer and director, Amy Heckerling, along with producer Robert Lawrence, are returning for the project. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on 'Gossip Girl', are attached as writers and executive producers under their Fake Empire Productions banner.

While no premiere date has been announced, the show is officially in development. Peacock, owned by NBCUniversal, has previously revived other 1990s series such as 'Saved by the Bell' and 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'.

Silverstone is the only confirmed cast member from the original film so far. The original cast also included Stacey Dash as Dionne, Paul Rudd as Josh, Donald Faison as Murray, and others. The late Brittany Murphy, who played Tai, will not appear.

This marks the second television adaptation of 'Clueless', following a 1996 ABC series that ran for three seasons, in which Rachel Blanchard played Cher.
