OnlyFans Creators Criticise Euphoria Over 'Cartoonish' Depiction of Sex Work

OnlyFans creators have criticised the HBO series Euphoria for what they describe as an inaccurate and stereotypical portrayal of sex work in its final season. The show features Sydney Sweeney's character, Cassie, becoming an OnlyFans creator to fund her wedding, with scenes showing her dressed in costumes including a baby and a dog.

Maitland Ward, a former Boy Meets World star turned OnlyFans creator, told Variety the depiction was 'beyond troubling'. She said: 'In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make pornographic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling and again serves to perpetuate stereotypes that sex workers have no moral compass and that they will do anything for money.' Ward also criticised the show for linking sex work to trafficking and abuse, calling it a joke.

Another creator, Sydney Leathers, highlighted factual inaccuracies, noting that many of the activities shown are not permitted on OnlyFans due to strict credit card processor rules. 'There’s just a lot that’s ridiculous and cartoonish about it,' she said, specifically referencing the age-play content.
