Officer in Nowak Case Resigns After Starmer Criticism

One of the officers involved in the Henry Nowak murder case has resigned, police have confirmed. The 18-year-old was handcuffed by police while he lay dying after his attacker, Vickrum Digwa, told officers that Nowak had racially abused him, as shown in body-worn camera footage.

Officer Resigns Amid Controversy

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police told the BBC that an officer had stepped down, but three others who were involved in the incident continue to serve. The resignation comes amid widespread criticism of the police's handling of the case, particularly their decision to handcuff a dying man based on an accusation of racism from his attacker.

Starmer Calls for Investigation

Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, said he “felt sick” watching the footage and demanded a full investigation into how “accusations of racism” influenced police decision-making. He emphasised the need for accountability and transparency in the case.
