Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Revamped Half Moon Cay Island

Carnival Cruise Line has finished renovating its exclusive Caribbean destination, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, significantly enhancing the dining, drinking, and relaxation offerings available to guests. The upgrades are designed to improve accessibility to the cruise line's private island.

New Infrastructure and Transportation

A newly constructed pier now allows ships to dock directly, eliminating the need for tender boats. Additionally, a tram service connects all areas of the island, while guests can also explore the scenic Papaya Pathway on foot.

Expanded Beach and Relaxation Options

The white sand beach has been expanded, offering complimentary loungers and umbrellas, along with reservable cabanas and daybeds for those seeking added comfort.

Enhanced Dining and Beverage Venues

Visitors can enjoy new and upgraded food and drink spots, including the Orchid Beach Grill, Hibiscus Beach Grill, Luna Tide Beach Bar, Stay Awhile Beach Shack, and Lil' Tiki Bar. These venues serve Caribbean-style meals, full buffets, and beverages in shaded, beachfront settings.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, stated: “RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay’s natural beauty has always made it a favourite for our guests, and with the new pier, more ships can now easily access this incredible destination. We’re excited that more guests than ever will be able to experience the stunning beachfront and turquoise waters.”

Itinerary and Pricing

Carnival Cruise Line ships visit the island on various Caribbean itineraries. Currently, 22 vessels in the fleet, including the newest ships Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Celebration, call on RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. Prices start from £160 per person.

Private islands are a popular feature of Caribbean cruises, offering passengers a day to relax on the beach and partake in water activities like swimming and snorkelling. Disney Cruise Line operates Castaway Cay, Royal Caribbean has Perfect Day at CocoCay and is planning a similar destination in Mexico, and MSC Cruises runs Ocean Cay Marine Reserve with a second luxury-focused island in development. Carnival Cruise Line also opened another private Caribbean island, Celebration Key, last year.
