The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) has confirmed it opened an investigation into Peter Mandelson, Britain's former ambassador to the United States and a former EU politician, concerning his connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

OLAF Confirms Probe

In an email statement on Friday, OLAF said: "OLAF can confirm the opening of an investigation on the case that you refer to. However, as the investigation is ongoing, OLAF cannot issue any further comment."

Mandelson's legal representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the investigation.

The probe adds to scrutiny over Mandelson's ties to Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Mandelson, a key figure in the Labour Party under Tony Blair and later Gordon Brown, served as EU Trade Commissioner before becoming Britain's ambassador to Washington.
