Former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed that her endometriosis and adenomyosis cause her significant anxiety, particularly when it comes to wearing summer clothes and swimwear. The 32-year-old, who also suffers from adenomyosis, expressed frustration over the persistent bloating associated with both conditions.
In an Instagram story, Mecklenburgh said: 'The joys of endometriosis and adenomyosis. I’m actually fed up of trying to cover the bloating I get 80% of the time. This is actually mild bloating for me.' She added that despite trying various remedies, including supplements and a healthy lifestyle, the bloating remains largely uncontrollable.
Endometriosis, as described by the NHS, involves tissue growing outside the womb, causing pain, heavy periods, and fertility issues. Adenomyosis, where the womb lining grows into the muscle wall, presents similar symptoms. Both conditions currently have no cure, though treatments like hormonal contraception and painkillers are available.
Mecklenburgh, who has two children with actor Ryan Thomas, concluded: 'I know there’s so many worse things but it’s so horrible having zero control of symptoms like bloating even with a healthy lifestyle.'
