Iowa gunman kills six family members in shooting spree

A 52-year-old man shot dead six members of his own family before taking his own life in a shooting spree in Muscatine, Iowa, police have said.

The suspect, Ryan Willis McFarland, killed four people at a home on Park Avenue before driving to two other addresses in the city, where he shot two adult men. Officers found him on a riverfront trail and tried to speak to him, but he fatally shot himself.

Police Chief Anthony Kies described the incident as an "act of evil" and said early investigations suggest it stemmed from a domestic dispute. The victims are believed to be family members of the suspect, but their identities have not yet been released.
