Gregg Wallace puts £1.3m Kent mansion on market with own lake

Former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has listed his five-bedroom country retreat in Kent for £1.295 million, complete with a private carp lake. The property, described as 'immaculate' by estate agents, sits on approximately five acres of garden, woodland, and pasture.

Wallace, 61, announced last month that he was selling the home to start a new life in Yorkshire and Italy with his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini and their son Sid. He stressed that the sale is not driven by financial hardship following his sacking from the BBC, but rather a desire for a fresh start.

The property, located in Biddenden near Ashford, was purchased by Wallace for £810,000 in 2008. It features a triple-aspect sitting and dining room with a log-burning stove, a quadruple-aspect kitchen/breakfast room, and a principal bedroom suite with dressing room and bath/shower room.

Outside, the grounds include a stable yard with five stables, a hay barn, a workshop, and a paved terrace with a working fountain. The listing also mentions an orchard planted with apple, pear, plum, and peach trees.

Wallace cited two reasons for the move: his daughter lives in Yorkshire, and he has always 'really liked' the area. He is seeking a property in a town for a sense of community, as he feels 'cut off' at his current residence.

The sale comes amid ongoing controversy over Wallace's behaviour on MasterChef. In November 2024, BBC News revealed claims of misconduct, and a subsequent report found 83 complaints against him, with 45 upheld. Wallace has apologised for any distress caused but insists he was cleared of 'the most serious and sensational allegations'.
