Ex-PC in Court Over Misconduct and Drug Charges After Alleged Criminal Links
Former Officer Charged With Misconduct and Drug Offences

A former police officer has appeared in court charged with multiple counts of misconduct in public office and drug-related offences, following an investigation into her alleged relationships with known criminals.

Allegations of Misconduct and Drug Offences

Kayleigh Moye, 28, a former constable with West Midlands Police, stood before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court this morning. She faces four counts of misconduct in public office. The charges relate to allegations that she misused police computer systems to access information about four known criminals with whom she had formed intimate relationships, and failed to notify her force about these connections.

Moye is also charged with being concerned in the supply of cannabis, and two separate offences of possessing the Class B controlled drug. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between September 2022 and February 2024.

Court Appearance and Bail Conditions

Dressed entirely in black, the former officer from Quinton, Birmingham, spoke only to confirm her name and address during the brief hearing. She was not asked to enter pleas to any of the charges, and no indication of plea was given by her legal representatives.

District Judge David Robinson granted Moye unconditional bail. She is scheduled to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Birmingham Crown Court next month. The former constable left the courtroom visibly distressed and in tears.

Investigation and Prosecution

The case was investigated by West Midlands Police, directed by the anti-corruption unit of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). This probe was initiated after a referral from the force in November 2023.

Upon completion of the investigation, a comprehensive file of evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS subsequently reviewed the material and made the decision to authorise the criminal charges now being brought against the former officer.
