Sarah Ferguson's Disturbing Emails to Jeffrey Epstein Reveal Desperate Friendship
Sarah Ferguson was once celebrated as a refreshing presence within the Royal Family, known for her vibrant personality and resilience. However, newly released emails paint a starkly different picture, revealing a desperate and troubling relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These communications, part of a massive three-million document release last week, expose repeated financial pleas, fawning admiration, and even marriage proposals from the former Duchess of York.
Desperate Communications and Financial Dependency
The emails depict Ferguson as deeply dependent on Epstein's approval and financial support. In one extraordinary message sent six months after Epstein's release from prison in July 2009, she writes: "You are a legend. I really don't have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me." This was not an isolated reference to marriage. In September 2009, another email from Ferguson suggests Epstein could marry another woman, describing her as "single and a great body," before adding: "OK well Marry me and then we will employ her."
Other messages reveal Ferguson's emotional vulnerability and financial desperation. In August 2010, she wrote: "I am feeling very traumatised and alone. I am wanting to work for you at organising your houses." The following month, she asked "when are you going to employ me," and later that same day expressed relief with "phew.. you still love me." These communications continued even after Epstein's conviction for soliciting sex from a minor, with emails from "Sarah" appearing in June and July 2009, just before his release from serving 13 months of an 18-month sentence.
Royal Connections and Daughters' Involvement
Disturbingly, the documents suggest Ferguson flew to visit Epstein at his home just five days after his prison release, bringing her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who were then 20 and 19 years old respectively. This visit occurred despite Epstein's recent conviction and imprisonment for sex crimes involving minors. Ferguson's spokesperson has stated: "The duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies."
The spokesperson further asserted: "As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia." However, the timeline of emails suggests continued communication well after Epstein's conviction became public knowledge.
Prince Andrew's Deepening Scandal
The released files also intensify scrutiny on Prince Andrew, Ferguson's ex-husband. One newly-released image appears to show the former prince on all fours, leaning over a woman lying on the floor. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, but emails reveal Epstein offered to arrange a dinner with a "beautiful" young Russian woman named Irina just months after his prison release. Andrew responded that he would be "delighted" to see her, asking: "Will she be bringing a message from you?" Epstein described Irina as "26, Russian, clevere (sic) beautiful, trustworthy and yes she has your email." Andrew was 50 years old at the time.
Thames Valley Police is now assessing allegations that a second woman was sent to the UK by Epstein for a sexual encounter with Andrew at Royal Lodge in 2010. The woman, who was in her 20s and not British, allegedly received a tour of Buckingham Palace after her encounter with the prince. Her lawyer, Brad Edwards, told BBC News: "We're talking about at least one woman who was sent by Jeffrey Epstein over to Prince Andrew."
Political Pressure and Royal Fallout
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that Andrew "should be prepared" to testify before the US Congress about his Epstein links, emphasizing: "I've always said anybody who's got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they're asked to do that, because you can't be victim-centred if you're not prepared to do that." Meanwhile, King Charles appears to have expedited Andrew's eviction from Royal Lodge following the file releases. The disgraced duke left under cover of darkness and is now reportedly living at Wood Farm Cottage on the Sandringham Estate while his permanent home undergoes renovations.
Prince Edward, the youngest of King Charles' siblings, has been the only royal to comment publicly, telling journalists at the World Governments Summit in Dubai: "Well, with the best will in the world, I'm not sure this is the audience that is the least bit interested in that. They all came here to listen to education, solving the future, but no, I think it's all really important, always, to remember the victims and who are the victims in all this." The emails reveal Ferguson expressing hurt over the cooling friendship with Epstein in September 2011, writing: "You have disappeared. I did not even know you were having a baby. It was s00000 crystal clear to me that you were only friends with me to get to Andrew. And that really hurt me deeply. More than you will know."
