The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed that Blunt is accused of one count of possessing a class A drug and three counts of possessing class B drugs. Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, stated: "We have decided to charge Crispin Blunt, 65, with four drugs offences - one count of possessing a controlled drug of Class A and three counts of possessing a controlled drug of Class B."

McHaffie emphasized that prosecutors have determined there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that pursuing criminal proceedings serves the public interest. The CPS has worked closely with Surrey Police throughout their investigation. McHaffie added a crucial reminder: "We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial. It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

The class A drug involved is alleged to be methylamphetamine, while the class B drugs are identified as GBL, cannabis, and amphetamine. These charges follow Blunt's arrest in October 2023, which led to the Conservative Party removing the whip from him at that time.
