Ex-Officer in Hiding After Grok Falsely Links Her to Nowak Arrest

A former police officer has been forced into hiding after being falsely identified by artificial intelligence platforms, including Elon Musk's Grok, as one of the officers who arrested Henry Nowak as he lay dying from stab wounds inflicted by Vickrum Digwa.

Christi Hill, who served as a police constable in Hampshire for 12 years until April 2024, said she and a male colleague have been wrongly named online. The home secretary, Shabana Mahmood, confirmed on Tuesday that the male officer had also been misidentified and had to leave his home.

In a statement, Hill said: 'My name and image have been widely circulated on social media, and now by AI platforms such as Grok, falsely identifying me as one of the arresting officers in the Henry Nowak case. To be absolutely clear, I was not involved in this incident. I left Hampshire constabulary in April 2024, while the tragic events occurred in December 2025.'

She attributed the confusion to a national police bravery award media release featuring a photo of her and a former colleague. Hill criticised the lack of support from Hampshire constabulary in correcting the false narrative and expressed alarm at how quickly outdated media can be weaponised by algorithms.

A Hampshire constabulary spokesperson condemned the spread of misinformation, noting that an officer unrelated to the case had received death threats. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is continuing its investigation into the police response on the night of the incident.
