The son of a former bikie kingpin has been discovered dead in a Melbourne park following an alleged abduction and murder by a machete-wielding gang. Patrick Longordo, 30, the son of former Mongols chapter boss Joseph Longordo, was reportedly ambushed by up to seven armed Sudanese men at 3am on Friday.
The assailants broke through the front door of his South Morang home while he slept, dragging him into a car as his brother James and two children remained sleeping. Shortly thereafter, his body was found dumped at a playground near Bruni Drive in Tarneit, approximately 25 kilometres west of Melbourne's central business district, at 4.30am.
A dark-coloured Mazda SUV was reportedly seen speeding away from the scene and was later discovered torched on a secluded road near Eynesbury just before 6am. Detective Inspector Dean Thomas described the incident as extremely frightening, noting that the attack appeared targeted. He confirmed that Longordo was known to police.
A friend of the victim stated to the Herald Sun that Longordo was a good person and that the killing was not bikie-related. Joseph Longordo, the victim's father, has returned to Melbourne from Bali, prompting police to remain vigilant about potential retaliation. Detective Inspector Thomas assured the community that a large team of Homicide Squad detectives is actively investigating the case.
Locals expressed shock at the incident, with one woman stating she would now think twice before going out after dark. Neighbour Chris described the event as a shock in their usually quiet neighbourhood. The perpetrators remain at large, and a post-mortem will determine the cause of death. Homicide detectives are working with the Echo Taskforce, which investigates bikie gangs, and are appealing to the public for information.
