Westminster City Council has issued an apology to Millwall Football Club following the inappropriate use of the club's official logo in a children's educational booklet. The booklet, designed to highlight the historical issue of racism within football, featured the club's badge on the clothing of a member of a white supremacist hate group.
Booklet Withdrawn from Circulation
The council confirmed that the booklet has been withdrawn from circulation and that internal procedures are being reviewed to prevent a recurrence of such an incident. A council spokesperson expressed regret over the misuse of Millwall's logo and any offence caused.
Club Considering Legal Action
Millwall's official supporters' group indicated that the club is still evaluating its legal options in response to the matter. The council's apology comes after the club expressed outrage over the portrayal of its emblem in connection with extremist imagery.
The incident has sparked broader discussions about sensitivity in educational materials addressing racism, with the council emphasising its commitment to learning from the mistake.
