A hedge fund manager who has appeared on CNBC has been arrested for stalking a woman and leaving her bizarre gifts, according to police.
Josh Koren, 38, founder of Musketeer Capital Partners and portfolio manager with PLP Funds, faces charges of aggravated stalking and trespassing in Florida, court records show.
According to a Miami Beach Police Department arrest report, officers responded after Koren arrived at a woman's apartment on Monday, claiming she was his girlfriend.
"Koren argued with officers on scene and stated he had every right to be at the location because his girlfriend resided there," the report said. He allegedly told police he planned to move in and was delivering groceries.
The victim stated she did not invite Koren and he had no reason to be there. A security guard reported Koren entered the building by following an unsuspecting group inside.
Koren was arrested at the scene. A search of his car revealed gifts intended for the woman: two new dresses, two folding knives, a can of pepper spray, and a stun gun.
When asked who should care for his pets, Koren referred to the victim as his girlfriend. He had received a trespass warning on May 7 after causing a scene at the same apartment.
A neighbor told police she was installing a security system due to Koren's previous behavior, including banging on her door thinking the victim lived there.
In a sworn statement, the victim said she repeatedly told Koren to leave her alone, and her workplace provided legal documentation demanding no further contact. "Koren has continued to harass the victim from multiple phone numbers, leaving messages as if the two are an item when they are not," the report stated.
The victim expressed fear for her safety, especially after the trespassing incident and the concerning items found in his possession.
Koren invoked his right to remain silent and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Bail was set at $3,000 with house arrest conditions. As of Wednesday afternoon, he remains in custody. A court hearing date has not been scheduled.
