Chris Noth Breaks Silence on Viral Sarah Jessica Parker Dig, Calls It 'Not News'
Chris Noth dismisses Sarah Jessica Parker award dig as 'not news'

Disgraced actor Chris Noth has finally addressed the bizarre online controversy that erupted after he appeared to mock his former Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker and her recent award honour.

The Viral Comment and Noth's Response

Noth, 71, broke his silence after a cutting remark he made on Instagram last week went viral. The actor, famous for playing Parker's on-screen love interest Mr. Big, had seemingly endorsed a fan's comment that disparaged Parker's Carol Burnett Award win ahead of the Golden Globes.

In a new post featuring a headshot, Noth attempted to downplay the incident. He described his initial reply as an 'off the cuff slightly sarcastic response' that had caused a 'tempest in a teapot'. He insisted the entire discussion was 'not news' and a 'waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about'.

How the Controversy Unfolded

The drama began when Parker, 60, was honoured with the prestigious Carol Burnett Award during a Golden Eve special last Thursday. In her acceptance speech, she praised the 'most glorious ensemble of women and actors' she had worked with on SATC over 25 years.

Shortly after, Noth shared a gym selfie captioned 'F&@k New Years - LET'S GO!'. When a fan commented, 'You mean f**k Sarah Jessica Parker and her award right? Lol,' Noth replied simply with: 'Right.'

Fans were left confused by the seemingly unprompted dig, flooding social media with questions about what had sparked the actor's ire.

A Career in the Shadows of Scandal

This latest incident occurs against the backdrop of serious allegations that have derailed Noth's career. In 2021, two anonymous women accused him of sexual assault in separate incidents alleged to have occurred in 2004 and 2015.

Noth has vehemently denied the claims, stating they were 'categorically false' and describing the encounters as consensual. No charges were ever brought. However, the fallout was severe. He was dropped by his agency, A3 Artists Agency, and his character was abruptly killed off CBS's The Equalizer.

Producers of the Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That..., also removed all his flashback scenes. Parker and her co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis issued a joint statement at the time, saying they were 'deeply saddened' by the allegations and supported the women who came forward.

Since the scandal, Noth's acting work has dried up. His first post-scandal role, in the thriller comedy The Block, has been postponed with no confirmed release date. Parker confirmed in a 2022 interview that she had not been in contact with Noth since the allegations surfaced.
