Bride in Paint Attack Breaks Down in TV Interview Denying Sister-in-Law's Claims
Bride in Paint Attack Breaks Down in TV Interview

Gemma Monk broke down in tears on Good Morning Britain today as she recalled how her wedding dress was ruined when her sister-in-law threw black paint at her on her wedding day. In an emotional first television interview, she refuted the claims made by Antonia Eastwood, who was handed a suspended jail sentence for the attack.

Wedding Day Ruined by Paint Attack

Gemma, who was set to marry her partner of two decades, Ken, described how the joyous occasion was abruptly shattered. Eastwood, married to Gemma's brother Ashley, threw black paint at Gemma's £1,800 white gown, leaving it ruined. Eastwood received a 10-month jail term suspended for 12 months for the vindictive May 2024 attack.

Speaking on the ITV breakfast show, Gemma explained: "Things have been taken out of proportion in the reason why she did this. All the allegations she has put forward are all false."

The Moment of the Attack

Gemma recalled the day starting beautifully as she and childhood sweetheart Ken prepared to tie the knot. She described waiting with her father and bridesmaids before arriving at the venue. As she stood in the bridal corridor, she heard her name being called and turned, thinking someone had stepped on her dress. Instead, she realised she had been splashed with paint.

"I knew instantly who it was. There's not many people I don't get on with. I'm not a hated person; I've got a kind heart. I only want what's best for my brother," she said, breaking down.

Family Tensions and Aftermath

Gemma's brother and sister-in-law were not invited to the wedding, but her brother's ex-wife and children were. Ken, standing at the altar, was told by the registrar what had happened and immediately knew who was behind it. The couple had expected some verbal comments but not this.

Despite the trauma, they decided to carry on with the wedding. After switching dresses, Gemma and Ken tied the knot. They now plan to renew their vows next year, hoping for a drama-free celebration.

Sister-in-Law's Defence

Speaking for the first time after the incident, Antonia Eastwood said: "I had a full-blown panic attack on the day I was sentenced. I was petrified I'd go to prison. It has all taken its toll." She claimed the black paint happened to be in her car by coincidence, explaining she had used it for her granddaughter's handprints and footprints.
