Arsenal Parade: 75 Rescued, 16 Arrested

About 75 people had to be rescued from height and 16 people were arrested during Arsenal’s victory bus parade on Sunday, emergency services said. Hundreds of thousands of fans lined the streets around the Emirates stadium in north London to celebrate the men’s Premier League title win and the women’s team lifting the Fifa Women’s Champions Cup.

The Metropolitan Police said 16 arrests had been made by 9pm, including for drunk and disorderly behaviour, drug offences, sexual assault and assaulting emergency workers. Officers responded to a stabbing on Hornsey Road just after 8.30pm, with a man taken to hospital. Stop-and-search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 were authorised overnight.

The London Fire Brigade rescued approximately 75 people from height and attended a hotel fire believed to have been caused by a stray flare. Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne urged fans to avoid using pyrotechnics and to refrain from climbing on rooftops, noting that most supporters celebrated safely.
