Road Rage Video Captures Former UFC Champion Jon Jones in Albuquerque Parking Lot Confrontation
A resident of New Mexico has publicly shared footage of a road rage incident involving former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon 'Bones' Jones. The video, recorded in Albuquerque, depicts a tense exchange after a near-collision on the road.
Confrontation Erupts After Alleged Dangerous Driving
The clip shows Jones exiting his truck in a parking lot, with the other driver, identified as Bryan Beltran, jumping out to confront him. Beltran initially did not recognise the mixed martial arts star. He immediately began shouting, accusing Jones of almost hitting him multiple times with his vehicle.
"You almost f***ing hit me, bro," Beltran can be heard yelling in the video. "You're almost hitting me with your truck, bro."
In stark contrast, Jones displayed an unusually calm demeanour throughout the encounter. The former champion repeatedly urged Beltran to de-escalate the situation.
"You gotta calm down, bro," Jones stated. "You gotta relax yourself, bro."
The confrontation concluded with Jones flashing his middle finger at Beltran before returning to his truck and driving away.
Driver Explains His Perspective and Recognises the Fighter
In a detailed caption accompanying the video, Bryan Beltran elaborated on his side of the story. He claimed Jones's truck swerved into his lane, nearly causing an accident three separate times.
"I was almost hit 3 times by the truck," Beltran wrote. "Even after I revved my car at him the first time it almost happened, he still almost hit me twice after that, so I flipped him off."
He expressed frustration, noting this was the second consecutive night a truck driver had pulled out in front of him, quipping, "I guess those are ABQ drivers for you."
Beltran clarified that he only realised he was confronting the famous fighter after the initial exchange. "Btw I know it's John [sic] Jones," he wrote. "I didn't know who it was when I flipped him off but definitely realised who it was quick! No hate or hard feelings towards my guy John [sic] but I think he might need to take some driving classes."
Addressing Jones's fans directly, Beltran added a humorous yet cautious note: "No, I don't think I could beat him in a fight lol. But like I said, he should still be more careful. Being famous or trained doesn't matter when it comes to someone pulling a trigger. Anything can happen."
History of Traffic Incidents for the Former Champion
This parking lot altercation is not an isolated event in Jon Jones's history with road-related incidents. His record includes several serious traffic violations.
- In 2015, Jones was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque that resulted in injury to a pregnant woman. He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and served 18 months of probation.
- Back in 2012, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI), leading to a six-month suspension of his driver's licence.
- More recently, in 2025, Jones faced accusations of fleeing the scene of another accident in New Mexico. However, the charges against him were ultimately dismissed by the courts.
The latest video has sparked renewed discussion about the fighter's conduct behind the wheel, juxtaposing his controlled demeanour during the confrontation with his problematic driving history.
