Thierry Henry has expressed his gratitude to a new generation of Arsenal title-winners for giving his children a Premier League success to cherish. Mikel Arteta's side ended a 22-year wait for a top-flight title after Manchester City's draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday night confirmed Arsenal as champions.
The news sparked jubilant scenes in north London, with Henry having been part of the last title-winning squad in 2004. That Premier League crown, achieved by the 'Invincibles', was the Frenchman's second during a golden period for the club around the turn of the century. However, Henry welcomed his first child in 2005, a year before the club moved from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium.
Henry remains closely tied to the club, having returned on loan later in his career, and is delighted to have new company as an Arsenal title winner. 'From Highbury seats to the Emirates - Arsenal nation, finally we can celebrate,' he posted on Instagram. 'Special thanks to this generation - finally now my kids saw us winning the league.'
Arsene Wenger, who oversaw those two titles, also featured in a celebratory post from the club. 'You did it,' the former Arsenal manager said. 'Champions go on when others stop. This is your time. Now, go on and enjoy every moment.'
