Asylum Seeker Stabbed at Aberdeenshire Hotel, Three Arrested

A 26-year-old asylum seeker was reportedly stabbed at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, which is being used to house migrants. The attack is said to have been carried out by a group of men also staying at the hotel.

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the Gordon Park area at around 10.45am on Friday, November 28, following a report of an assault. The victim sustained a facial injury. Three men have been arrested, and a weapon has been recovered. The force stated the incident is believed to be contained and poses no wider risk to the public.

A Home Office spokesperson described the incident as 'horrific' and said: 'Violence in asylum seeker accommodation is not acceptable and any perpetrators will face the full force of the law.' The statement added that the safety and wellbeing of asylum seekers remains a government priority.

Local MP Andrew Bowie expressed concern on social media, stating he had previously been in touch with police over security arrangements at the hotel and would revisit the issue. Around 300 migrants were believed to be living at the hotel this summer.
