Dublin Airport has reopened Terminal 2 following a security alert that led to the evacuation of thousands of passengers on Saturday. The alert was triggered by a suspicious luggage item discovered in the terminal.
Ireland's national police, An Garda Síochána, called in a bomb disposal squad to examine the item. After a preliminary examination, the luggage was deemed safe and removed to an alternate location, allowing normal operations to resume.
Police clarified that earlier reports of an arrest related to the incident were incorrect; no arrests have been made. The alert was separate from a Europe-wide cyber attack affecting check-in and boarding systems at several airports, including Dublin.
The cyber attack, which impacted Collins Aerospace systems, caused minor disruptions at Dublin and Cork airports, with some airlines resorting to manual processes. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for updates.
