UAE Airspace Briefly Closed as Israel Strikes Beirut and Tehran

The United Arab Emirates briefly closed its airspace on Tuesday after the military reported responding to missile and drone threats from Iran. The closure came as a drone attack sparked a fire at an oil tank farm in Fujairah, an emirate on the country's east coast, according to the state-run WAM news agency. No injuries were reported in the blast.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced new attacks on Tehran and Beirut, targeting Hezbollah militants in the Lebanese capital. The strikes are part of an escalating conflict that has seen significant casualties across the region.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump stated that “numerous countries” have indicated they are “on the way” to assist in policing the Strait of Hormuz, though he noted some reluctance among nations, suggesting a lack of reciprocity in defence agreements with the United States.

The ongoing war has resulted in at least 1,300 deaths in Iran, 850 in Lebanon, and 12 in Israel, according to officials. The US military reports 13 American service members killed and around 200 wounded. In Qatar, an Associated Press journalist heard explosions as air defences near Doha intercepted incoming Iranian fire, with Qatar's Defence Ministry confirming it had intercepted a missile attack. Dubai residents also received a missile alert during the same period.
