Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on four Republican lawmakers who joined Democrats in voting to restrict his war powers concerning Iran. In an early-morning tirade on Truth Social, the former president accused the group of 'grandstanding' and acting 'unpatriotic' amid ongoing negotiations with Tehran.
House Vote on Iran War Powers
The House of Representatives passed a resolution 215-208 to limit Trump's ability to strike Iran without congressional approval. Four Republicans broke ranks to support the measure, drawing Trump's ire. He wrote: '4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats voted to limit my ability to strike Iran. These people are unpatriotic and should be ashamed of themselves.'
Trump's Accusations
Trump accused Democrats of suffering from 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' and singled out the four Republicans as 'GRANDSTANDERS' who were trying to score political points. He suggested their actions were a betrayal of the party and the country, especially during delicate negotiations with Iran.
Symbolic Resolution
Despite passing the House, the resolution is largely symbolic. It still requires approval from the Republican-controlled Senate, where it faces an uncertain future. The White House is expected to disregard the measure, viewing it as an infringement on executive authority. The vote highlights ongoing tensions between Trump and members of his own party over foreign policy.
