Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash Escape to Cyprus Amid Marriage Speculation
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have jetted out of the country for a family holiday in Cyprus, just days after the television personality publicly defended the state of their marriage against ongoing speculation. The couple, who have been together for a decade, were spotted flying economy with their children on Easter Sunday, seeking a break from the intense public scrutiny.
United Front on Holiday
A source close to the pair revealed that Stacey and Joe were putting on a united front during their travels, with both actively looking after their children. "Stacey and Joe clearly could use a break and need to get away from it all," the insider said. "They all flew economy, and it was clear they were all looking forward to a little bit of time out. Stacey was wearing a comfy hoodie, and Joe looked relaxed in a grey tracksuit."
The source added that Stacey typically avoids commenting on her marriage publicly, making her recent outburst a sign that the constant attention has been affecting her. "Stacey never publicly comments about anything like her marriage, she always tries to ignore it, so you can tell things have really been getting to her. Hopefully this holiday will be exactly what they all need at a difficult time," they noted.
Defending Their Non-Legal Wedding
Last week, Stacey Solomon, aged 36, took to Instagram Stories in a five-minute video to address what she described as a "massive pile on" regarding their 2022 wedding ceremony. She clarified that their ceremony at their Essex home, Pickle Cottage, was a religious blessing and not legally binding, a fact she had previously disclosed to fans.
Stacey explained the reasoning behind their choice: "To get married anywhere legally, the place has to have a 'civil ceremony' licence. One of the requirements for this licence is that the premises must be made 'readily available' for ceremonies. As this is our private family home and we need it to remain that way we couldn't go for that option. So we are having a relaxed private blessing in front of our closest friends & family and a ceremony of our love to each other and we will register our marriage legally after."
She also addressed speculation about her engagement ring, stating that she often wears fake rings designed with a company she works with, as she fears losing the original. "It's not newsworthy," she asserted, emphasising her desire for privacy.
Social Media Break and Relationship Honesty
In the wake of the controversy, Stacey announced she would be taking time off social media, expressing feelings of being "annoyed" and "uncomfortable" with the constant examination of her marriage to Joe, who is 44. Her social media pages now indicate she is "offline," with plans to remain quiet for a while.
The couple, who met on the I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off show in 2010 and began dating in 2016, have been open about the imperfections in their relationship. In their BBC reality series, Stacey & Joe, they have documented family life, admitting to frequent arguments and a "feisty atmosphere" at times.
Last April, Stacey candidly shared: "I think sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's really c**p ain't it? I think sometimes, everyone's looking for this perfect partner, when actually the perfect one is the one you want to kill half the time, and are in love with half the time."
Family Life and Background
Stacey and Joe are parents to three children together: Rex, aged six, Rose, four, and Belle, three. Stacey also has two older sons from previous relationships: Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 13. Their holiday to Cyprus marks a temporary escape from the spotlight, as they focus on family bonding and relaxation amidst the ongoing public discourse about their union.
