Lorraine Kelly's Daughter Unveils Intimate Family Album in New Parenting Book

In an exclusive reveal, Rosie Kelly Smith, the daughter of beloved TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, has opened up her family's photo album to share never-before-seen intimate pictures. This heartfelt gesture comes as Rosie launches her debut parenting memoir, Mother to Mother, offering fans a rare glimpse into Lorraine's life away from the spotlight.

A Family-First Approach Amid Personal Loss

With the recent heart-wrenching loss of her father, John, last month, Lorraine Kelly has emphasised that family comes first now more than ever. Rosie, 31, underscores this sentiment by releasing a collection of portraits that showcase Lorraine not as a celebrity, but as a devoted daughter, doting mother, and loving grandmother. "She may be everybody's TV mum, but she's not famous to me," Rosie says. "I've never known anything different. She's just my mum."

Wisdom Passed Down Through Generations

Rosie's book, Mother to Mother, is packed with life lessons gleaned from her mother and grandmother, Anne King McMahon. Key advice includes Lorraine's mantra that "everything is temporary, the good and the bad," and the importance of kindness and self-care. Rosie, who has an 18-month-old daughter named Billie with her fiancé Steve, 31, reflects on how these pearls of wisdom have shaped her own journey into motherhood. The couple, engaged last year, plan to marry this summer in Scotland, with Lorraine and Rosie's father, also named Steve, by their side.

A Love Story and Grounding Influence

Lorraine and Steve met while working on TV-am in the 1980s and have been happily married for 32 years. Rosie describes her father as a down-to-earth cameraman who keeps the family grounded, despite their showbiz lifestyle. "No matter how 'showbiz' life gets – going to the Baftas, for example – Dad is very down to earth, he keeps everyone grounded," she explains. "He's very Scottish, a very to-the-point man. He keeps everyone calm."

Close-Knit Family Bonds

Rosie, born in 1994, spent her early years in England before moving to Dundee for secondary school. She now lives just a six-minute walk from Lorraine and Steve's new home in Berkshire, a proximity that strengthens their bond. "People are always like, 'Is it not a bit weird that your mum moved right next to you?' But no, we need it," Rosie says. "I see them all the time. They're sort of settled now, but it took a while."

Lorraine's Hands-On Parenting Style

Despite her demanding career, which includes hosting her eponymous ITV show since 2010 and co-hosting the podcast What If? with Rosie, Lorraine was always a hands-on mother. Rosie recalls that her mother prioritised happiness over academic achievements, often asking at parents' evenings, "Does she have any friends and is she happy?" Lorraine's weekly commute from London allowed for cherished family routines, with Rosie noting, "Monday to Thursday, my hair would be a mess, done by my dad. From Friday onwards, I would have princess ringlets."

Support Through Mental Health Struggles

After Billie's birth, Rosie faced mental health challenges and relied on medication, with Lorraine providing unwavering support. "She would finish work at 10, and could get to me at 11 if she really sped on the Tube," Rosie shares. "She was always there. And that was so vital, even if I couldn't talk, just to have her presence and someone who gets it."

Grandmotherly Joy and Humorous Moments

Lorraine is utterly besotted with her granddaughter, Billie, who adds a touch of humour to their relationship. "Billie yells 'Nana' at the TV, which is quite funny, especially in public," Rosie laughs. "One of Billie's first words was 'Nana' too, although we don't know whether that was 'Nana' or 'banana'."

Mother to Mother by Rosie Kelly Smith is published on 26 February by Seven Dials, offering an intimate look at family, motherhood, and the enduring bonds that define the Kelly clan.
