Tehran has explicitly threatened to completely sever its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) if Western powers refuse to lift debilitating economic sanctions.
The chilling warning was delivered by the head of Iran's atomic energy organisation, who stated that the country's continued engagement with the agency is "not an unchangeable decision."> This represents a significant hardening of Iran's position and places the beleaguered 2015 nuclear deal, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in even greater peril.
The Core of the Dispute
