Gemma Collins Reflects on Life-Changing I'm A Celebrity Experience
Gemma Collins on How I'm A Celebrity Transformed Her Life

Gemma Collins Opens Up About Transformative I'm A Celebrity Journey

Gemma Collins has emerged from the I'm A Celebrity camp with a renewed sense of pride and self-assurance, declaring that the experience has profoundly changed her life. Unlike her brief three-day stint in the 2014 Australia version, which she quit, the 45-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star stuck it out this time, embracing every challenge and trial thrown her way.

In an exclusive reflection, Collins expressed immense satisfaction with her performance, stating she achieved personal redemption by facing fears head-on. "I'm proud of myself for sure," she said. "I got redemption for myself and I didn't say no to anything. I got on and did it. It definitely wasn't easy at times, but I'm really proud of myself for sure. 100% it's given me a confidence boost. This time, I went in there all guns blazing. It's been like a weird sort of holiday, but a lovely one."

Camp Life Brings New Appreciation for Home Comforts

The reality TV personality highlighted how the grueling camp chores, particularly washing up in cold water without luxurious products, brought her back down to earth with a jolt. "I'd never washed up so much in my life!" Collins exclaimed. "I'm very fortunate, I've got two dishwashers at home and I have a cleaner three times a week. It certainly brings you back down to earth with a bang. There weren't any luxurious products there, plus it was cold water. I won't be washing up for a long time, put it that way."

She also missed her daily rituals and comforts, such as baths, lotions, and even simple pleasures like soft carpet underfoot. "I'm very lucky, I do have a few luxuries in life. I missed having a bath and putting all my lotions and potions on at night. I also missed my magnesium; I always spray it on the soles of my feet before I sleep. One thing I missed was just getting up in the morning, the moment you get out of bed, and feeling that soft carpet beneath my feet. Water… I am so appreciative of water!"

Bonds Formed and Redemption Achieved

Despite the hardships, Collins forged meaningful connections in camp, singling out Beverly Callard as a standout inspiration. "One person who really stood out to me there was Beverly Callard," she shared. "That woman… unbelievable. She's got real tenacity and strength. She's an absolute inspiration, certainly for my generation who are in their 40s, to see she's in her 60s and she's still going every day."

Her exit in a double eviction with David Haye, which initially sparked tension, ended on a positive note. Collins explained, "David and I had beef at first, but he actually saved me in the end. I felt like I'd done what I wanted to do and I could see the others wanted it that little bit more. I was like, 'If no one wants to go, then I'll go.' I've won in my eyes. I got the opportunity again, I did the trials and I didn't say no to anything. I got from the experience what I needed to get to be my own winner."

Overall, Gemma Collins views her I'm A Celebrity journey as a pivotal moment that boosted her confidence and reshaped her perspective, leaving her with no regrets and a newfound appreciation for both challenges and comforts in life.
