Flavor Flav's Las Vegas Parade Proposal Honoring Female Athletes Approved Unanimously
Flavor Flav's Women's Sports Parade Proposal Approved

Flavor Flav is celebrating the Olympic women's hockey team with a special multi-day event in Las Vegas. The 'SHE Weekend' proposal, which includes a parade and a concert, was approved in a unanimous vote by the Clark County commission on Tuesday.

A Vision for Female Athletes

The 67-year-old rapper, whose real name is William Drayton Jr., told the commission, 'I'm honored to be able to bring these United States Olympic athletes to Las Vegas. There's no better city for me to have these girls celebrate their winnings than Las Vegas.' He added that his vision was to do 'something real good and great for these female athletes that won gold this year.'

Flavor Flav, a self-proclaimed 'girl dad' and father to four daughters, has been a vocal supporter of women's sports. His manager, Rhiannon Rae Ellis, explained that the idea originated from 'an innocent tweet to support and celebrate female athletes.'

From Twitter to Reality

The rapper first suggested the celebration in February, following the U.S. women's hockey team's gold medal win at the 2026 Winter Olympics in northern Italy. The team had declined an invitation to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address after he implied he would invite them out of obligation. Flavor Flav then extended his own invitation.

'SHE GOT GAME. July 16-19. Viva Las Vegas,' he captioned a flyer on X, alongside a photo of the women's hockey team.

The commission hailed SHE Weekend as 'a celebration of the most elite women athletes in the United States' and 'a call to action — a platform for lasting social change in women's sports.'

A Champion of Women's Sports

Flavor Flav has become a prominent advocate for women's athletics. He attended his first Olympics at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris to support the USA women's water polo team, where he went viral for cheering them on while wearing team merchandise. He had signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the team as their 'official hype man.'

'Supporting USA Water Polo teams is an honor,' he said at the time. 'As a girl dad and a champion of all sports, I'm excited to bring my energy and voice to this incredible sport. Niche sports often don't get the spotlight they deserve, but they are packed with incredible talent and heart. Together, we're going to make some serious waves!'
