White House to Host UFC Freedom 250 Event on Trump's Birthday
A historic UFC event, dubbed UFC Freedom 250, is scheduled to take place at the White House on June 14, coinciding with Donald Trump's 80th birthday and America's 250th anniversary. UFC CEO Dana White has extended invitations to numerous A-list celebrities, including Tom Brady, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and Adam Sandler, though their attendance remains unconfirmed.
The event will feature six bouts in an octagon set up on the South Lawn, with 4,300 invite-only seats. Among these, 1,200 seats are reserved for active service members. Members of the public can apply for free tickets to watch the fights on large screens from the Ellipse, with approximately 85,000 tickets expected to be distributed.
Celebrity Invitations and Political Reactions
While UFC CEO Dana White insists the event is not political, it has drawn criticism from Democrats. Senator Adam Schiff described the spectacle as out of touch, questioning the appropriateness of hosting a combat sports event at the White House. The invite list includes a mix of sports icons, Hollywood stars, and political figures, though many have yet to confirm their attendance.
The White House cage construction has begun ahead of the fight, marking an unprecedented use of the presidential grounds. The event is expected to draw significant attention, blending sports, entertainment, and politics in a unique celebration.
