Andy Burnham has confirmed he will set up a 'No 10 North' in Manchester, describing it as the biggest change in a generation to how the country is run. The move, consistent with the 2024 manifesto, aims to create a more streamlined state with a clearer purpose to power up all parts of the UK.
Key Details of the Announcement
Speaking at the People's History Museum in Manchester, Burnham stated that the change will be driven through the prime minister's office in an extended operation based in Manchester. However, he emphasised that it will only be based there, with the job of No 10 North being to make power flow into the Midlands, South West, East of England, and even London.
Focus on Growth and Regeneration
Burnham highlighted a 'laser-like focus' on growth and regeneration, describing it as 'good growth'. The initiative is part of a broader effort to decentralise power and ensure all regions benefit from economic development.
