Scottish Man Shot Dead in Caribbean Car Park

A Scottish man has been found shot dead on a prestigious Caribbean island. Danny Vettrino, 37, was fatally shot in a car park in the Gym Hill area of Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines at around 11:30pm on Wednesday, June 24, after returning from a day trip.

The 37-year-old, originally from Dysart in Fife, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, reports the Mirror. The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has opened an investigation into Danny's death, confirming earlier this week that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old Technical Services Manager of Colombia/Scotland, with multiple gunshot wounds about his body. Victim's Background and Move to the Caribbean

Danny moved from Scotland to Egypt in 2015, taking up a position with an international peacekeeping organisation responsible for monitoring the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty. He subsequently relocated to Colombia in 2023 and was contemplating a return to Scotland early the next year before accepting the Caribbean position. In August 2024, Danny arrived in the Grenadines, assuming the role of Technical Service Manager at the Canouan Estate Resort and Villas.
