A UK oral care brand has launched a new UV toothbrush steriliser that it claims can kill 99.9% of bacteria in just three minutes. Whites Beaconsfield, founded by brothers Ollie and Toby Brittan in 2019, says the wall-mounted device uses hospital-grade UV-C light to disinfect toothbrush heads.
The company warns that toothbrushes left in bathrooms can become contaminated with bacteria such as E. coli, especially if stored near toilets. The steriliser aims to address this by not only killing germs but also drying and protecting brushes between uses.
The device features a digital LED display, USB-C charging, and is compatible with both electric and manual toothbrushes. It is priced at £29.99 in the UK and marks the latest expansion for the fast-growing brand, which has built a following through social media and influencer marketing.
Co-founder Ollie Brittan said: 'The reality is that most people have no idea how contaminated their toothbrush can become. This product isn’t about fear. It’s about giving people an easy, affordable way to improve their daily hygiene routine using technology that actually works.'
The launch is backed by dentist and online personality Dr Milad Shadrooh, known as 'The Singing Dentist', who has joined the firm as a dental adviser. He commented: 'Most people rinse their toothbrush and assume it’s clean, but bacteria can remain on brush heads long after use, especially in damp bathroom environments.'
