Alex Scott's Jungle Panic: Unseen Medical Emergency & Jess Glynne Absence
Alex Scott's Jungle Panic: Unseen Medical Emergency

Former footballer and TV presenter Alex Scott has revealed she faced a hidden health scare during her time on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, which led to an urgent trip to the medical tent in scenes never broadcast by ITV.

Jungle Panic: The Hidden Medical Emergency

Scott disclosed that a moment of panic ensued after a tic burrowed into her shoulder. The incident occurred after she had been carrying logs. "I was sitting next to Martin after carrying the logs and I felt my shoulder, and I was like, 'Oh, that's a big spot that's come up,'" she recounted. "I asked him to have a look, then Kelly jumps up and says, 'It's a tick.'"

The situation quickly escalated, with fellow campmate Kelly Brook insisting she seek immediate medical attention. Scott admitted to "panicking" as Brook urged her to go to the medics. She confessed that while she was aware of the risks of ticks and leeches in the Australian jungle, she never believed it would happen to her. Fortunately, the medical team successfully removed the pest, and Scott noted that she was the only campmate to have experienced this particular issue, though she also revealed that Ginge was affected by leeches in the damp conditions.

Heartbreak at the Bridge: Jess Glynne's Absence

In a wide-ranging interview conducted after leaving the jungle, Alex Scott also opened up about the emotional moment she realised her partner, popstar Jess Glynne, was not waiting for her upon her exit. Scott had already been grappling with a difficult personal situation before even flying to Australia, as Jess's mother had suffered a stroke.

The former England star agonised over whether to pull out of the show, but it was Glynne who encouraged her to go. "It's been a tough time for us and obviously her family, and it was a tough decision to come into the jungle, but then Jess never wanted me to step away from not doing it," Alex explained. She knew there was a strong possibility her partner would not be across the bridge if her mother's health did not improve.

Hours after Alex left the jungle, Jess Glynne took to social media to explain her absence in an emotional statement. She detailed how her mother had "suffered a major stroke and needed urgent brain surgery" in the preceding weeks. Glynne wrote, "It's been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I've had to stay close to home. Alex would always want me to be where l'm needed most. I can’t wait to have her back by my side."

When asked if she nearly withdrew from the programme, Scott was unequivocal: "Oh, yeah, absolutely, 100 percent. But Jess was the one that wanted me to do this, so that's why I wanted to go in and still make her proud."

Salt Smuggling and Winner Predictions

Scott also discussed her role in one of the camp's major talking points: the salt smuggling operation that cost the camp a star. She described feeling like a "naughty schoolgirl" after being caught sneaking seasoning. The contraband was acquired at a service station where she stared at the sachets for ages before deciding to hide them in her socks, evading a check.

She admitted that her secret stash was not so secret amongst several campmates, revealing that Jack, Ginge, and Shona were all aware of her illicit seasoning supply.

As for who she believes will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, Alex Scott tipped the fan favourites. "Personally, I think, from the public and how the trials have been going, it's going to be Ginge or Aitch between those two," she said, citing their fan bases and how they've come across in the jungle. While she expressed a desire for Shona to win, calling it a "beautiful story," her prediction ultimately settled on a victory for one of the male contestants.
