Television favourite Sonia Kruger has offered a rare glimpse into the fitness routine that keeps her in remarkable shape at 60. The celebrated presenter appeared on Channel Seven's Sunrise on Friday to promote her online home fitness programme, Strictly You.
From 'The Titanic' to 'Grant Denyer Milking a Cow'
Proving her commitment, Sonia didn't just talk about fitness—she led hosts Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr through a short, dynamic arm routine. She emphasised that her philosophy is not about being skinny, but about being strong, a sentiment she shared before starting the workout.
The session began with an exercise she humorously named 'the Titanic'. 'Imagine Leonardo DiCaprio is standing behind you – maybe not you, Matt – and pulse up and down,' she instructed, before having them flip their arms over to pulse on the other side. She also revealed this move is colloquially known as 'lady flaps'.
The next move saw participants reaching skywards in a motion Sonia dubbed 'Grant Denyer milking a cow', a playful nod to her fellow TV veteran and friend. This was followed by a crouching pose with arms pulsed behind, inspired by iconic British ski jumper Eddie The Eagle. With her trademark wit, she joked, 'I also call this Tinder date going well.'
The final position mimicked an air traffic controller, with arms raised in a Y-shape above the head. Both Natalie and Matt were visibly impressed by the compact regimen, admitting they could definitely feel the burn.
The Skincare Regimen for a Busy Working Mum
Beyond fitness, Sonia also offered insight into the skincare routine that maintains her youthful appearance. As a mother to nine-year-old daughter Maggie with a demanding career, she prioritises simplicity and effectiveness.
She is a devoted user of the Radiant Complexion Serum from Three Warriors, which retails for a reasonable $80. 'My make-up artist Simone Forte loves that the serum keeps my face hydrated overnight and in the morning my skin already has a nice base,' Sonia told The Beauty Diary in 2024.
'The best part is, after I take off all my TV make-up and I've applied the Radiant Complexion Serum, I know I'm going to wake up with a beautiful glow in the morning,' she continued. 'For busy working mums, we'll take anything that works while we're sleeping.'
A Year-Round Glow
Hydration is the non-negotiable cornerstone of Sonia's approach to skincare. She advocates for rich moisturisers and incorporates LED light masks into her routine once or twice a week to boost moisture levels, especially during the harsh winter months.
To complete her look, she relies on a good fake tan, specifically praising the Three Warriors tanning lotion for getting her beach-ready in just ten minutes. '[Fake] tan makes me feel like I look healthy, and also evens out my skin tone,' she explained, noting it provides essential confidence when wearing swimsuits.
By combining functional strength training with a straightforward, hydrating skincare routine, Sonia Kruger demonstrates a holistic and accessible approach to health and wellness for women in their sixties and beyond.
