Microwave Bacon Trick For Crispy Results Every Time

Getting bacon to the perfect texture can be tricky, but food experts at Delish have revealed a simple microwave method that promises crispy results every time. They describe the microwave as a “secret weapon” for achieving ultimate crispiness, with the test being whether the rashers stand up straight.

The method requires just a microwave-safe plate and kitchen roll. Layer the plate with three sheets of kitchen roll, place the bacon rashers on top without overlapping, then cover with two more sheets. Microwave on high for four to six minutes, checking halfway through, until the bacon is crisp. The kitchen roll absorbs the grease, making for easy cleanup.

Delish notes that microwave wattage and bacon thickness vary, so check every two to three minutes. They claim this is “probably the healthiest way to make bacon” due to the grease absorption.

For those without a microwave, Mary Berry recommends frying bacon in a pan with sunflower oil. Heat one tablespoon of oil in an eight-inch pan with a lid, fry the bacon on high heat until crisp, and cover to speed up cooking and lock in crispiness. Chopped bacon takes minutes, while whole rashers may need around ten minutes with a flip halfway.
