Billie Eilish Says No to Plastic Surgery, Embraces Aging

Billie Eilish, the 24-year-old Grammy-winning singer, has declared that she will never undergo plastic surgery, expressing excitement about experiencing the natural aging process. During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, Eilish shared her enthusiasm for watching her face and body change over time without intervention.

Embracing Natural Aging

“I’m so excited for my face to age and my body to age and not change it,” Eilish said on Tuesday’s episode. She emphasized her desire for her future children to see a genuine reflection of themselves in her, rather than a “botched version” of what she might become through cosmetic procedures. The singer reflected on her teenage years, recalling a different mindset about aging. “I was just like, ‘This will be me forever.’ I remember when I was 17, I was like, ‘OK, and I am the person I will be forever, right now.’ And that’s just not how it works, obviously,” she explained.

Previous Comments on Cosmetic Surgery

Eilish has previously addressed the topic of cosmetic surgery in the entertainment industry. In a 2021 interview with The Guardian, she discussed how her song “OverHeated” criticizes those who promote unattainable body standards. “It’s completely fine to get work done – do this, do that, do what makes you feel happy. It’s just when you deny it and say, ‘Oh, I got this all on my own, and if you just tried harder, you could get it.’ That makes me literally furious,” she stated. She highlighted the negative impact such denial has on young people, saying, “It is so bad for young women – and boys, too – to see that.”

The “Bad Guy” singer also admitted to feeling pressure from online images, despite knowing the industry’s tricks. “I see people online, looking like I’ve never looked. And immediately I am like, ‘Oh my God, how do they look like that?’ I know the ins and outs of this industry, and what people actually use in photos, and I actually know what looks real can be fake. Yet I still see it and go, ‘Oh God, that makes me feel really bad.’”

Body Image and Style Evolution

Beyond cosmetic surgery, Eilish has been open about her relationship with her body and fashion choices. In an interview with Elle published last week, she revealed that her signature baggy clothing stemmed from a “toxic relationship with [her] body.” She explained, “I had a lot of eating issues. I remember putting on, like, a big shirt and the relief that I felt. At the same time, it was my love for hip-hop culture and wanting to be a man.” The singer acknowledged internalized misogyny, stating, “This is the misogyny that we all have within us… which is that I didn’t want to be seen as feminine, and therefore weak. It’s not right. I’ve found a good way of not feeling like that.”
