Amy Childs has disclosed that her weight plummeted below seven stone after she used so-called 'skinny jabs', leaving her feeling frightened by the severity of her illness. The former TOWIE star admitted that she was so exhausted that she could not look after her three children and has vowed never to inject herself again.
Health Scare and Family Stress
The mother of four revealed that the stress of her mother suffering a heart attack last year contributed to her weight loss, but she also confessed to using the jabs for a short period. She said: 'I did try skinny jabs, I'll be honest with you. I thought to try to lose that little extra baby weight. I was still training and eating healthy, but I wanted that little quick fix. I think I did it for two weeks. I was so ill - I cannot tell you.'
Side Effects and Regret
Amy, who welcomed twins Milly and Billy three years ago and also has Polly, nine, and seven-year-old Ritchie, opened up about the side effects on the No Parental Guidance podcast. She said: 'I was being sick, nauseous - I thought I was pregnant. After two weeks I thought what am I doing, and I never took it ever again. I lost a bit of weight and then all of a sudden my mum had the heart attack, and that's when it went downhill for me.'
She added: 'I tried the skinny jabs, it didn't work for me, I was so ill. It actually scared me how ill I was. Three days I was in bed for. I thought I've got the kids, really? I've got the kids to look after, they need their mummy.'
Public Scrutiny and Weight Struggles
Amy, who is regularly scrutinised over her weight, shared the abuse she receives 'every day'. People tell her how 'terrible' she looks and say she is a 'role model for your daughter'. She admitted that at one point she dropped to six stone 13, four months after her mother's illness, and described it as the skinniest she had ever been. She explained: 'I couldn't physically train because I had this anxious anxiety with my mum. It's bad, but I'm better now. I train like three times a week. I play Padel.'
Amy concluded by saying she does not know what batch of jabs she used, but it made her very ill. She noted that many people, including her mother's friends, use them successfully, but for her, the experience was too severe. She has since recovered and is maintaining a healthier lifestyle.
