Donald Trump has triggered fresh health concerns after observers noticed bruising moving up from his hand to his arm.
Questions about the US leader's physical and mental fitness have strengthened since his 80th birthday, with instances of public memory lapses and visible bruising and swelling adding to the scrutiny.
Last year, the White House said the discolouration on Mr Trump's right hand came from heavy handshaking combined with his daily aspirin intake.
Bruising appears on left hand
By January, viewers had observed the bruising had extended to his left hand, and recent photographs show it also travelling up his arm.
On Friday, the president displayed a fresh bruise on his upper left hand during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David.
Independent journalist Aaron Rupar posted a picture of the mark on X, writing: "Trump's left hand (not the right one that is usually mangled) is discoloured. Picture is from his cabinet meeting today."
Mr Trump has previously used thick makeup to hide the bruising.
Age and stamina questions
His overall health came under greater scrutiny after he turned 80 in June, with former Obama staffer Rahm Emanuel telling the New York Times he doubted whether "somebody at 80-years-old has the physical stamina, the mental stamina for that office".
The president has also been seen nodding off in public on several occasions during his second term, as often as once or twice a month.
The White House, however, has insisted that Mr Trump is in nothing less than "perfect" health.
Doctor's assessment
His personal physician, Sean Barbarella, reported that the president exhibited "strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function" during a spring check-up.
Following the examination, Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social: "I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed [National Military Medical Centre], I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all."
