An 18-year-old Scottish teenager has tragically died while on holiday in Benidorm, with his family blaming a suspected dodgy vape oil for his sudden collapse.
Harry Whitton's Sudden Death
Harry Whitton, from Dundee, was enjoying a holiday with his girlfriend Karina Sandeman earlier this week when he suddenly became unwell and struggled to breathe. He later vomited, which aspirated into his lungs, leading to his death.
Family Blames Vape Oil
Harry's father, Colin, told the Daily Record that the family believes a vape oil Harry purchased in Benidorm caused a severe reaction. Preliminary post-mortem results showed that Harry's throat constricted, making it difficult for him to breathe. Colin stated, "Harry took a reaction to something. We think it was his vape - he had recently bought a vape oil in Benidorm and it is the only difference between what he has been using."
Colin emphasized the dangers of unregulated vape oils: "There are still far too many unknowns about these vape oils and no long term studies have been done on their effects."
Heartbreaking Tribute from Mother
Harry's mother, Debbie, expressed her grief: "Our hearts are shattered and our world has been turned upside down. We should be arranging his surprise 18th, but instead we will be arranging a funeral."
She described Harry as a loving son with a cheeky character and pure heart.
Fundraising for Repatriation
The family has set up a fundraising page to bring Harry's body back to Scotland, which has raised over £37,000 in one day.
Tributes from Dundee United and Girlfriend
Harry, a supporter of the Scottish national team and Dundee United, was remembered by the club as a familiar face in their hospitality lounges. His girlfriend Karina said, "I can't even begin to put into words how heartbroken I am... You really were the cheekiest, most happiest boy I've ever met."
