Pause for Hope cancer service returns to Liverpool church

Families across the region are invited to attend the annual Pause for Hope Service, offering support, comfort and encouragement to those affected by cancer. Established in 1999 by Professor Ray Donnelly, founder and president of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the service brings people together to find hope and consolation through prayer, music and reflection.

Service details and programme

This year’s service will take place at 3pm on Sunday, October 25, at Our Lady and St Nicholas Church in the city centre. The gathering will include prayers, hymns, music and reflections, providing an opportunity for people affected by cancer to come together in a spirit of hope and solidarity.

Founded in Liverpool 27 years ago, Pause for Hope has since expanded to other parts of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Services have been held in cities and communities including London, Chester, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast, Birmingham and South Wales.

Speakers and music

The initiative recognises the important role that prayer can play for many people seeking hope, comfort and meaning while facing the challenges of cancer. This year's keynote speaker will be In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo, with music provided by Billy Hui and SingMe Merseyside.
