Tragic Holiday Meal Ends in Choking Death

A 74-year-old mother choked to death within seconds of starting a steak meal while on holiday in Spain, a coroner's court has heard. Ceri Ball was enjoying a trip to the coastal town of Peñíscola near Valencia with her husband, Glyn, when the tragic incident occurred during an evening meal out.

Seconds to Tragedy: The Fatal Incident

According to her daughter, Lisa Lisseman, 54, the event unfolded with shocking speed. Within moments of eating the steak, Ceri began to choke. Her husband recounted that she lost consciousness in a matter of seconds. Immediate efforts were made to save her, with a restaurant waiter stepping in to help and someone else calling for an ambulance. Despite these frantic attempts, Ceri could not be saved.

Inquest Opened and Provisional Findings
