Jessie J Opens Up About Breast Cancer Battle in Emotional Speech
Jessie J Shares Breast Cancer Battle Insights at Awards

Jessie J opened up about her breast cancer battle while accepting an honour at the Silver Clef Awards. The singer, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025 and confirmed she is cancer free after surgery earlier this year.

Emotional Acceptance Speech

After receiving the award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, Jessie J took to the stage at the O2 to thank those who supported her. She started by telling the audience she hadn't prepared anything, quipping: "I think I won all my awards in 2010 in the space of three months. It's been a while since I've given a speech, so bear with me."

The speech soon turned serious as Jessie spoke about the past 18 months, during which she both spent time with her three-year-old son Sky and battled breast cancer. She continued: "The last 18 months has been the most incredible, the most magical years of my life, and also the hardest."

Life Lessons from Hard Times

She added: "I believe that we find the truest parts of ourselves in hard times. So when you're faced with them, it's life trying to teach you something. And to become a mum after not thinking I would, having one t*t just get chopped off out of nowhere - you never know when your t*t is going to be taken from you, so enjoy your t*ts."

The Price Tag singer said losing her breast during a mastectomy to remove the cancer was a "metaphor for life" and implored fans to make the most of their time and their breasts. "That's a metaphor for life," she said. "Enjoy your t*ts while you've got them."

Celebrating Life and Music

She finished by saying how much she loves life and being able to celebrate with those at the awards. "I just love life, I love music, I love telling stories, and it feels good to be celebrating what I love to do. So thank you so much."

Jessie revealed she was cancer free in May 2026, just 11 months after her initial diagnosis. She took to Instagram with the news after heading to the hospital for a check-up. The singer admitted she "sobbed for hours" after doctors told her the news.

Cancer-Free Announcement

The video upload showed the singer in hospital, preparing for an MRI scan. She said in the clip: "So I'm back for my yearly check-up, I'm actually s***ing myself, I'm not gonna lie. They told me there was no contrast, but I think there is based on this," pointing out the cannula in her arm. She asked for "positive vibes" as she revealed the distress of having an MRI. "I might have to have a bigger bucket this time, for this big old b*** but fingers crossed, all good, positive vibes, don't worry about a thing," she said.

In the caption, she added the happy news: "RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!! I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year."
